Addison Oktoberfest

A few things learned at the 2011 Addison Oktoberfest:

Guy code 101: you can trust your buddy to hold your beer if his is larger than yours

Dallas Cobwoys Stadium

I finally got around to using the groupon  I purchased for a VIP stadium tour and have added some of the photos from areas we were able to see.

The VIP guided tour takes you through Jerry Jones' booth where he and son Stephen Jones often watch the game:

New gallery - Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival

Photos from the Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival have been added to a new gallery. While it has the typical knights and maidens, there are also some other costumes I didn't expect to see, including steampunk:

and monsters:

Despite the disclaimer, how else would you take the President Obama signs that the shop owner has placed on them?

Texas Rangers go to the World Series!

On Friday, 10/22/10, the Texas Rangers made history by winning their first American League Championship and earning their first trip in franchise history to the World Series. Neither ominous storms and intermittent rain nor Yankees could spoil this evening. For us long suffering Rangers fans who were lucky enough to attend the game, it was both electric and emotional as the crowd of 52,404 fans stayed long after the game was over to celebrate their win.

Video of the last out of the game and the ensuing excitement can be seen below:

Photos of the game can also be found here. The Rangers are now only 4 wins from their first World Series Championship! Go Rangers!

Historic Sinclair Station

I recently ran across a fully restored Sinclair gas station in South Fort Worth, Texas. The station was restored to what it probably used to look like decades ago, complete with vintage pumps and a dinosaur on the roof. The office was also filled with memorabilia. If you want to visit the station yourself you can find it here.
