Vintage Advertising, Photography And More
I recently ran across a fully restored Sinclair gas station in South Fort Worth, Texas. The station was restored to what it probably used to look like decades ago, complete with vintage pumps and a dinosaur on the roof. The office was also filled with memorabilia. A tornado hit Midlothian, Texas this afternoon. Although I was a few miles away, I was able to grab a few photos and a short video of the developing tornado:

While visiting a Christmas tree farm just outside of Burleson, TX we spotted this windmill.
The Inwood Theater was open on Thanksgiving, although everything around it seemed to be closed.
Went by the stadium last night, Baylor was playing Texas Tech. Although much of the area was blocked off, i was able to snap a picture at a stoplight.
Neiman Marcus has rolled out their Christmas decorations and window displays for the 2009 holiday season. Here are some photos of this years display:
We stopped by the Richardson Civic Center (a Dallas suburb) today to check out the DallasComic Con. While not as big as some of the events held in other places, this one was definitely packed and difficult to navigate at times. The event had tons of talented artists selling sketches and prints and some were offering custom drawings. Most of them were drawing when they weren't otherwise occupied, so fans had the opportunity to see them at work. In the photo below you see Michael Champion hard at...
I was in Arlington yesterday and took a couple of photos of both the Texas Rangers Ballpark (AKA 'The Ballpark in Arlington' and 'Ameriquest Field') and the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
Tonights storms provided some spectacular lightning and more damage from high winds as neighbors suffered more lost shingles and uprooted trees. Here are a couple of photos:
It was a beautiful sunset today, the clouds made a rich red and orange reflection of the setting sun. Fortunately I had my camera handy to snap a few pictures:
The Dallas Cowboys' new stadium is looking almost complete. The first event is a George Strait concert scheduled for early June, and outward appearances look like the stadium will be ready. However, the stadium is only thing that seems to be on schedule - none of the additional commercial development has been done in the surrounding area, and the highway construction will not be complete by football season. We had a brief winter storm today. The temperature dropped from the low 80's on Saturday to freezing on Monday, with freezing rain all day. Thankfully the roads didn't freeze over, but the trees weren't quite so lucky!
If you have never seen the Neiman Marcus Dallas store around Christmas, you are really missing out. Each year they decorate thestore witha different theme. Their window displays are world famous, and this year's display was beautiful. They took submissions from children at the Scottish Rite hospital, and then chose the best ideas and brought them to life.Here are a few photos of the store and some of their window displays from 2008.
