In 1961, Goodyear started a 17 year long practice that would help shape the Christmas memories of a generation. Like many other merchants of the time, Goodyear began offering a Christmas compilation record at a significant discount to their customers. Businesses from all sectors, including grocery stores, hardware stores, and even Avon had branded Christmas albums available.  Firestone, a major competitor to Goodyear also had a similar offering, but it was neither as long running nor quite as popular as the Goodyear albums. Goodyear continued this practice through the late 1970's.
